Made for Pack Flippers
You care about what goes into your food, and we do too. Because it's not just about great macros, it's also about clean ingredients your body will recognise as real food.
Like jerky, but better!
Unlike most jerky, we naturally preserve our beef just as our ancestors did with no added nitrates or nitrites (carcinogenic preservatives). We also don't use cheap fillers like maltodextrin or hydrolysed vegetable proteins (high in MSG). A lot of jerky is surprisingly high in sugar (upwards of 20%!) but our products have less sugar than a carrot. And because they're slow dried they're much more tender than jerky and retain over 90% of heat sensitive vitamins such as B12. Better is an understatement.
Clean, meaty hunger busters
Beef is a superfood but most meat snacks (jerky, sausage rolls and meat pies) are ultra processed. With Chief, you get all of the goodness with none of the nasties.
Why Collagen Protein?
Collagen is an odourless, tasteless, dairy free protein source. You'll love it because it's a great environmentally friendly option and easier on the gut than other proteins like whey. There's also a bunch of new research suggesting it's beneficial for gut health, joint and tendon health, recovery and hair, skin and nails.
Clean treats you'll feel good about
Most snack and protein bars are basically candy cars, filled full of syrups, artificial thickeners, fillers, emulsifiers, sweeteners and sugar alcohols. With Chief, you can treat your taste buds and your body.
Frequently asked questions
The best description we've heard of the beef bars is they're like a roast! If you like meat, you'll love these savoury bars (and our biltong too).
The best way to describe the taste of our collagen bars would be like a nut butter biscuit. They're sweet but they’re very low in sugar because we use a natural sweetener (monk fruit).
All our meat is 100% organic, grass-fed, grass-finished, added hormone free, antibiotic free and ethically raised beef. We use brisket and topside sourced from family owned organic farms in QLD, Australia where cattle forage freely all year round.
We use grass-fed bovine (beef) hydrolysed collagen peptides from Argentina. We will be moving to Australian Collagen as soon as possible.
Everything we make is healthy and natural, designed to be enjoyed daily by anyone. Great for pre or post workout, or as a snack when you're on the move or trying to get through the 3pm hump.
Yes! Our kids love them and our whole range is perfect for kids. They are quite filling though so half a bar will probably be more than enough for the younger ones. Please note our collagen bars contain nuts.
There is nothing in our products that you would need to worry about but we’re not allowed to give advice so you should always check with your doctor or health professional.
Some may warn you off dried meat during pregnancy because it's not cooked but there is nothing in our products that you would need to worry about while breastfeeding. They are very safe and in our personal experience we've found them to be great for pregnancy and breast feeding. In fact, high quality organic grass-fed beef is a fantastic supplement for mums who are growing human beings (and an important source of iron).
Some doctors might flag the camu camu in our collagen bars which is a berry - the reason for this is it’s high in Vitamin C and you can have too much Vitamin C, hence the general advice on camu camu. We don’t use a lot, there’s 0.24g in each bar which is about 7mg of Vitamin C and the recommended daily intake of Vitamin C is 75mg for women.
In our view, all our products are very safe and, again, from personal experience we've found them all to be great options.
We can't give you that advice so you need to speak with your dietitian but we have had feedback from dietitians that all our products are suitable for diabetics.
No, none of our products are vegan including our collagen bars.
Collagen comes from animal sources. There are plant based "collagen" powders starting to appear which essentially mimic the same amino acid profile of natural collagen, but to date there's not a lot of research showing it's efficacy and the research that does exist suggests you'd need 6 times as much to get a similar effect.
There are also vegan “collagen” products out there that don’t contain any collagen but claim to increase the body's own collagen production.
We do have many customers following a plant based diet who consume our products as a way to get important nutrients without eating meat. Think of collagen as an odourless, tasteless white powdered form of bone broth.
Our collagen range is Halal certified (we export to the Middle East).
The beef we use in our Beef Bars and Biltong is Halal certified but our manufacturing is not, yet (we're working on it).
We don't have Kosher certification yet.
The beef bars and biltong will last on the shelf for up to 10 months and the collagen bars for up to 14 months. The date on them is a best before date, not an expiry date, which means it's a question of taste after that date. You can pop them all in the fridge or freezer to extend their shelf life.
