IRON + C combines nature’s richest sources of heme (or haem) iron - organic beef spleen and liver. The addition of acerola cherry, which is naturally high in vitamin C, supports enhanced iron absorption. This powerful pairing helps maximise iron absorption, energy levels, and overall wellbeing.
Synthetic iron supplements are typically made by industrially processing iron salts like ferrous sulfate, blending them with synthetic vitamin C and chemical excipients. They aren't as easily absorbed and may cause side effects like nausea and constipation. Chief IRON+C is made from real food ingredients, which deliver iron alongside its natural cofactors like B vitamins and minerals - as nature intended.
It costs less than a daily coffee and actually solves the problem.
Take 4 capsules per day. You can take them whole, or open the capsules to mix with food or drink. We recommend taking them in the morning.
Please note:
Taking supplements with coffee can interfere with the absorption of certain nutrients, we recommend a 30 minute window on either side. See FAQ for more information.

Nearly 1 in 4 people worldwide are affected by iron deficiency. It’s most common in women in their 30s and 40s, but it can also affect women in their 50s and 60s - and men too, especially if their diet is lacking or they have gut issues. Low iron and B12 often shows up first as fatigue, brain fog, poor mood, and sluggish workouts. The best way to fix this is with real food. Our capsules deliver everything you need to go from dragging yourself through the day to feeling like your self again.
Not all iron is absorbed the same way. Heme iron, found in animal foods, is typically easier for the body to absorb than non-heme iron from plants or many synthetic iron supplements.
Main Sources
Red meat, liver, spleen, poultry and fish
Ferrous sulfate, fumarate, gluconate, bisglycinate and plant foods
Typical Absorption
15–35%
2–10%
Absorption Pathway
Uses a specific heme iron pathway
Uses general mineral transport pathways
Affected By Diet
Less affected by other foods in the meal
More affected by phytates, fibre, tea, coffee and calcium
Dose Needed
Often lower, because it is typically better absorbed
Often higher, because absorption is typically lower
Digestive Comfort
Usually well tolerated because it comes from food
Can cause digestive upset at higher supplemental doses, including constipation or nausea
This is general nutrition information only. People with diagnosed iron deficiency, anaemia, pregnancy, or medical conditions should speak with a qualified healthcare professional about iron supplementation.
We test for the things you want more of, like naturally occurring nutrients, and the things you want less of, like certain heavy metals and agricultural residues.
| What we tested | Lab result |
|---|---|
| Pesticide & Herbicide Screen | |
| Glyphosate A widely used herbicide we screen for as part of our quality testing. | <0.10 mg/kg |
| Total Glyphosate A combined measure used to check overall glyphosate-related residues. | <0.10 mg/kg |
| AMPA A compound linked to glyphosate breakdown, included in the residue screen. | <0.10 mg/kg |
| Glufosinate Another herbicide residue included in the screening panel. | <0.10 mg/kg |
| Ethephon A crop treatment residue included in the screening panel. | <0.10 mg/kg |
| Heavy Metals Screen | |
| Mercury An unwanted heavy metal we test for to confirm it is below the lab’s reporting limit. | <0.010 mg/kg |
| Active Nutrients | |
| Iron An essential mineral that helps support normal energy production and oxygen transport. | 5800 mg/kg |
| Vitamin C Listed on the lab report as ascorbic acid, the active form of vitamin C. | 2200 mg/100g |
Because we use real food ingredients, trace amounts of naturally occurring metals can sometimes be present from soil and water. That’s why we test — to make sure levels are low, monitored and within strict safety limits. Results shown are from batch S25-0154636. “<” means the result was below the laboratory’s reporting limit. Original Lab Report available upon request.

Customer Reviews
Most people notice more energy within 2-4 weeks of taking them daily. For the numbers on your blood test to change, give it 8-12 weeks before you get rechecked.
Standard iron supplements use a synthetic form of iron that's harder for your body to absorb and often causes constipation. Our capsules contain the same type of iron found in meat - it absorbs better and comes with all the helper nutrients your body needs to actually use it.
Start with 4 capsules daily with food. If your levels are seriously low, try 3 capsules twice a day with meals (6 capsules per day). As always, loop in your healthcare provider about what's right for you.
Absolutely - that's when many women need iron the most. Lots of midwives and nutritionists actually recommend liver specifically during pregnancy. Still, check with your healthcare provider first since they know your specific situation.
Many of our customers eventually switch completely to our capsules, but during the transition, you can take both. Just check with your doctor about your total iron intake.
Our beef liver comes exclusively from certified organic, grass-fed, grass-finished Australian cattle raised on regenerative farms with high animal welfare standards.
